Lister / Mørkelagt Bevegelse - En Side Hver (1984)

Ok so I've slept on posting this one for a long time now, but here it is (finally!). A split tape from Norway, featuring two artists previously posted on this blog that you can find here and here. The Lister side doesn't offer too much in the way of thrills, but I certainly enjoy Mørkelagt Bevegelse's contributions here. There aren't any other MB releases that I'm aware of, so.. enjoy!

P.S. I have a few great posts lined up, so stay tuned!

A1 - Lister - Et Skritt Frem Og Ti Til Siden
A2 - Lister - Another Mt. Fuji
A3 - Lister - Eifantz
A4 - Lister - Paraplylandskap

Mørkelagt Bevegelse - A View X Another Victim (1983)

An ultra obscure tape from Norway is what's on the menu for today. This dish is quite tasty on it's own, but has been known to have been served with a side of Lister. That meal may be coming out of the kitchen soon, so save room for more. I think you'll enjoy the flavor, which starts out subtly, but picks up rather nicely around bite 4 and never looks back. Don't try to swallow it all at once, give it time to digest properly. And remember, this is a dish best served cold. Enjoy!

Track List:

A1 - Cheers From The Crowd
A2 - Under The 2nd Bridge
A3 - Til De Tvilende
A4 - Every 15 Seconds
A5 - Retrospective
A6 - The Stairs
A7 - Veins
B1 - Another Victim Pt. I
B2 - The Pray
B3 - The Chamber
B4 - The Survival
B5 - The Return
B6 - Four Walls, Too Many People
B7 - Another Victim Pt. II

Kid D. & The Nightshades - Satyricon (1986)

First, I wanted to say sorry about the lack of posts recently. I've been swamped with work and life in general. I'll try to be as active as possible. I have a few 7" records planned that I think will go over well. Stay tuned.

Ok, a lot to cover on this one, so I'll try to keep it as tidy as possible.

I've mentioned this LP in previous posts, as it's related to a couple of them. Kid D. (or Kid Death) is an alias of Svart Klovn, who released a couple of well-known singles, the 2nd of which (Queen Bitch) leads off the LP, and the b-side of that single (A-hhh) is found later on. I've posted my rip of that 7" here.

There are a couple of cover songs thrown in here as well. The first is a magical version of Clockwork Orange's "Sensation Boys". The other is a cover of the legendary Lou Reed-penned track, "Venus In Furs".

Now, on to what's left of the album. "Frankie Goes To Woodstock" is the first original track found on the LP. It's a fun track with Kid Death's signature sound quite evidently present. Next comes "Syob Noitasnes Wow" (Wow Sensation Boys), which is, as you may have guessed, the lyrics of Sensation Boys played backward. It's strangely enjoyable, believe it or not, particularly due to the soothing synth lines and the lyrics "When you close your eyes, you can feel what you like".

The the b-side opens with an instrumental called "Phenylcyclohexylpiperidin" for... all the molecular biochemist listeners out there...? The final two songs are the album title track, another classic Kid Death number, and "Wildshot", which closes out the album in a bizarre compilation of yelling and screaming.

Do enjoy!

Track List:

A1 - Queen Bitch
A2 - Frankie Goes To Woodstock
A3 - Sensation Boys
A4 - Syob Noitasnes Wow
B1 - Phenylcyclohexylpiperidin
B2 - Venus In Furs
B3 - A-hhh
B4 - Satyricon
B5 - Wildshot

Downers - December Rain (1985)

Well, I figure I might as well run the gamut with Tor Dybdahl releases. Well, almost anyway. As I mentioned in the previous post, Downers were another project of this great Norwegian artist. This is a three-track 7", all of which are a nice listen. The cover art is basically representative of the sound. The version of "Run Away" here is different from that which is featured on The Temptation Tapes Vol. 1 (which you should all buy!). I've also got this slightly different version of "December Rain", which you can get here. Enjoy!

Track List:

A1 - December Rain
B1 - Two Bicycles In Summertime
B2 - Run Away

Horsemen - Mr. Sunrise (1987)

Here we have one of the few projects by the brilliant Norwegian artist, Tor Dybdahl. Also involved in one of my first posts, Clockwork Orange (as well as Downers and The French Connection). All of the aforementioned are featured on an absolutely brilliant LP called "The Temptation Tapes Vol. 1" on Hommage Records. Trust me it's totally worth buying, you can order it here. In any case, this is a true gem from my favorite Norwegian artist. Enjoy!

Track List:

A - Mr. Sunrise
B - And I Wish...
