Bizarre Unit - Dancing / Away From The Screaming Car (1981)

At long last, a brilliant and ultra scarce 7" from the UK by Bizarre Unit. I'd been hunting this little jewel for quite some time and it's been well worth the wait. I'd previously heard one song that had a rather rough sound to it, but now I'm led to believe all copies share that issue. However, with a little 'remastering' help, these songs are now more than listenable!

It may interest a few of you to know that Paul Nova was involved in this wonderfully obscure gem. Enjoy!

Track List:

A - Dancing
B - Away From The Screaming Car

  1. I have to say that alot of these singles put out by bands fall flat and repetitive for me, but this one was ear candy.

  3. hmmm... i missed this one somehow.
sidenote: fairly certain that this JT isn't the same JT from D2.
discogs puts this JT on drums and says this was recorded in 1981 in Walsall UK (which admittedly isn't too far from Birmingham UK where D2 are from) but timewise that would also be when D2 were really pushing hard to be HUGE....that and being a fan my whole life i'd never read anything about him playing drums in any bands!

  5. Hi, I worked with Bizarre Unit in 1981 and 1982. This is not the same John Taylor that was in Duran Duran. Bizarre Unit played live in the Midlands, mainly short PAs at fashionable Birmingham night clubs and the odd pub / wine bar live session.

  7. yep thats about it guys .we were were deffo around at that time ,the funny thing is that .our little gem was out around the same time as planet earth ,we played some of the same gigs as dd .and did know some of the members of dd ,through friends etc . in fact the day that planet earth was released or there about ,i did run in to nick rhodes in birmingham ,and he did wish us luck with bizzare unit .but shortly afterwards we split and went our own ways .the recording was bloody awfull but it was back in the eighties ,and we recorded the whole track live , the john taylor on the record was the owner of the studio as we did not have a drummer at the time ,marc fane .
