Well, there's really no rhyme or reason to this. It's just something I felt like doing. As you might have guessed, it's not an official release. Did the name give it away? I wasn't after any sort of cohesive structure or even smooth transition from track to track. Some of these bands are extremely obscure, and some of them I just really like. Either way, I think you'll dig it. I can't say whether the "Crispy Nuggets" series will continue or not, but I named it Vol. 1 in the event that I'm once again inspired to do this. I pulled a lot out of the UK for this, a few sprinkled in from various parts of Europe, and a few from North America. Do give it a try, and if I ever meant it before - enjoy!

Congratulation. The best Synth compilation hear since a long time. Quickly, the vol 2
ReplyDeletePS : I believe one day find a complete ripp of the band see in this compil on your blog.
I Love You.
ReplyDeletePas De Deux usually are good, but this particular piece always was my favourite. Cleptomaniacs unite!
ReplyDelete..."Quickly, the vol 2" -> i second this request! :-)
ReplyDeleteHopefully it will also act as an example, regarding how future re-issues from labels will be alike...
Incredible
ReplyDeleteamazing
I have no words...
I love you too :)

ReplyDeleteIndeed, this is one fantastic compilation.
ReplyDeleteDo you by any chance have the Clair Instant LP?
thanks

Some great tracks here, others are too "soft" or radio-friendly for my taste. In any case thank you for sharing this! Where is this Short Wave Mystery track from? Cannot find any info.
ReplyDeleteIt's an unreleased track by the band. Look for it on a re-release LP on Dark Entries. There will be plenty of other amazing tracks, not to be missed!
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to put up some of my compilations soon....:)
ReplyDeleteFeel so young = BEST SYNTH-WAVE TRACK I'VE HEARD IN A LONG TIME
ReplyDeleteThis compilation is a huge success.
Definitely agreed about Pas De Deux. Their record is great
ReplyDeletebut this one is easily their best.
Great idea, man! You may have inspired me to do something similar- too many loose gems to be had!
Definitely checking this out. Thanks for once again sharing so many great tracks. Expect nothing but the best from this compilation here.
ReplyDeleteAfter listening, this is exactly what i expected, an amazing compilation of wonderful tracks. My favorite as of right now has to be Tres - Break Your Body Down. Any info? Does this record exist? Would love to somehow get this one day. Thanks! and of course, keep up the good work friend. Volume 2 soon?
ReplyDeleteThe only release Tres ever had was the 7" I posted a bit earlier. "Break Your Body Down" is an unreleased demo. Arguably my favorite from a fairly large series of demos. They're not at all easy to come by, and for now, I'm going to keep it that way. I'm hoping that someone will be able to contact the band and re-release their stuff on LP.
ReplyDeleteTres is the greatest!!! Thank a lot! All the best from Moscow!!!
ReplyDeleteUpdate: Ignore my previous comment about Short Wave Mystery being re-released on Dark Entries. Apparently a guy from the band is going to do it himself with a more modern sound... or something. We'll see.
ReplyDeletethanks forthe music.Saludosfrom patagonia
ReplyDeleteHi - I was in All the Madmen back in 1980 - its great that stuff we did is still out there and being "dug" thanx guys . Where did you find it?

ReplyDeleteI have allready got all of the shortwave demos and such they were going to release. They aren't bad at all, but if they go and modernize them, well....they will probably only make money with the name.
ReplyDeleteLook, you're famous.
ReplyDeletejust found your blog! AMAZING!!!! thank you for posting this stuff! love love love it
ReplyDeletedoes laugh clown laugh have any other songs? cant seem to find any info on them... its a shame cuz "feel so young" is my new favorite song.
ReplyDeleteAny info 4 Mixed Feelings, haven't find anything about them. Tnx!
ReplyDeleteSpeak to Sean Cooper lives in New Zealand now he's on Facebook. ..he's the writer.... hope that helps... Lorraine O x
DeleteThanks, this is marvellous. Looking forward to a v2 if there is one. Some of this stuff is incredibly obscure, it's fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of a little bit more info, years of release, if they were released on anything at the time, that sort of thing? No worries if not - you've done enough!
Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Can't wait to hear it! Great blog!
ReplyDeleteawesome. its great to have a compilation of this sorta stuff. thanks!
ReplyDeleteI just noticed that this compilation had a track by 'All the madmen'. It was funny all the controversy that the re-lease of their record has caused. Every-one is mad at the guy for re-leasing the records via E-bay, but like a friend of mine said,'They will buy it anyways, and thank him afterwards for screwing them out of the money.' I buy music for listenability, not collecting. And on that note, I have listened to the samples of the band, and wouldn't give them maybe ten bucks for it. Iam sure though, that dude will sell every copy, make bucu bucks, and show the minimal $ynth collectors how silly some of them are. Not all of them of course, many(you included Crispy) are cool people who share their treasures with the world. Others, I believe, wish to clutch them in their cold dead hands when they go into the grave.

"you're trying so hard just to feel so young."
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! thank you kindly.
The All the Madmen LP is not a re-release .We would not have had the balls to release something recorded onto a cassette !
ReplyDeleteRegards - Neale (All the Madmen)
Yeah!!!This blog is very hight level quality!!!!!
ReplyDeleteReally nice compilations, and it's really fun to see my old band Candide contributing.
ReplyDeleteThe last track is easily the best for me, good melody. Apparently a Swedish group from 87.
ReplyDeletehey...
ReplyDeletei just stumbled on this...my name is Sean Cooper
i was in the band Mixed Feelings (track 2) and wrote Another Place (Like Home) as an angsty 14 year old back in 1982...bit of background...we were from Basildon, same town as Depeche Mode (same school even!) and we were 15 when we recorded it, no midi, no sequncers, all by hand...originally appeared on "Dream Sequence" compilation....very odd to see it pop up 30 odd years later :) email me : coopa1@xtra.co.nz
Hi Dominic O'Brien from LAUGH CLOWN LAUGH
ReplyDeleteAmazing after all these year. Thank you. We saved our dole to record this. We used a Korg MS20 & a Sequential Circuits Pro 1 & hired a Linn Drum. We came from Frome in Somerset to a recording studio somewhere in South London and recorded Feel So young on the 1st September 1983. We have put on you tube a song from a live recording in my parents living room recorded on a cassette recorder: Aquarium(life in a tank)by Laugh Clown Laugh. Happy listening.
Hi Dominic, thanks for the info! Can you please contact me here:
